This course has been approved by the LSP Board for 4.0 hours of "Technical” (non-DEP) continuing education credits (Course #1594). It has also been approved by the CT Board for 4.0 LEP credits (#CTLEP-439). This course has been submitted to NYPE for PDH credits. Approval is pending NY. 

Course Description:

This course will introduce LSPs to the theory and application of activated carbon-based technologies.  

The course will also include sections on:

  • Conceptual site model development and best practices in data gap analysis;
  • The chemistry of activated carbon-based chemistries for in situ remediation;
  • Injection basics for the application of suspensions (slurries); and
  • Case studies involving the use of activated carbon-based technologies from both chlorinated solvent and petroleum hydrocarbon sites.  

In-situ technologies have been used for decades to remediate groundwater and soil contamination at sites with releases of oil and hazardous wastes.  AST has developed a new in-situ technology and has successfully pioneered its use on projects nationwide.  

Course attendees will leave with a sound background in these topics and be able to apply their new knowledge on future projects.
