Course Description:

MassDEP's Emergency Response Program responds to releases and threats of release of oil and hazardous materials to the environment including commercial/industrial spills, roadway accidents and homeowner releases. The ER Section Chiefs will use examples from actual incidents and releases to illustrate specific issues to assist LSPs involved in notification and initial or “front end” response actions under the MCP. Topics to be presented include:   

  • Emergency Response Organization & Operations Regionally
  • Notification: Who, What, Where, When and Why
  • Requirements for Notification and IRAs
  • Limited Removal Actions: Dos and Don’ts
  • Releases of Materials Not Listed on MOHML
  • Specific Chemicals of Interest
  • Notification for New Conditions at Existing Sites
  • Conducting Preliminary Response Actions 
  • State-funded Emergency Response
  • Tips for Documenting Permanent Solutions for Sudden Releases
