In Memoriam:   Allen F. Davis, PE, LSP, passed away on October 24, 2012.  Al, age 73, was a member of the LSP Association, and retired from SAIC.  Visitation and a funeral service will be held on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3, respectively.  Click here for more information.

LSPA opposes Senate Bill #110:  “An Act Relative to Liability Insurance for Licensed Site Professionals.” This bill would mandate that LSPs maintain liability insurance in an amount no less than $100,000.

LSPA supports Senate Bill #340:  An Act to Revitalize Urban Centers.  This bill would modify MGL 21E to expand the definition of “Background” to include certain concentrations of chemical constituents in Historic Urban Fill and also in Indoor Air.  To read our letter, click here.

Staff Reductions Force LSP Board to Revise Administrative Procedures
Editor's Note: The following article, prepared by the LSP Board, highlights the dire straits in which the Board now finds itself with respect to staff resources.  Current LSPs should note this message's implications with respect to license renewals and course approvals, and should submit renewal and course approval requests with appropriately long lead times.  Similarly, prospective LSPs should note the implications with respect to both the approval of their applications and the potentially long gap between the application approval and the exam. Final CAM Protocols
MassDEP Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup will be posting the final Compendium of Analytical Method (CAM) protocols on or about April 15, 2010.  For the purpose of meeting the requirements for “Presumptive Certainty,” these protocols must be used on analyses conducted on or after July 1, 2010 (the protocols’ effective date). 

These protocols may also be used optionally prior to the July 1, 2010 (i.e., either the newly posted or existing CAM protocols may be used in the period of time prior to July 1, 2010). The protocols will be posted at  http://www.mass.gov/dep/cleanup/laws/qaqcdocs.htm
