LSPA Announces Launch of its 2026-2027 Grant Programs

The LSPA’s grant programs support our commitment to advancing sound environmental practices, promoting the waste site cleanup profession, and creating meaningful community engagement. We’re pleased to announce the 2026-2027 launch of our two grant programs:

Through these grants, we provide funding for initiatives that promote a deeper understanding of environmental challenges, encourage innovative approaches to addressing those challenges, and strengthen the practice of environmental professionals. By investing in both community-based efforts and the continued development of the profession, the LSPA aims to foster practical solutions, collaboration, and long-term positive impact.

Applications are due by July 1, 2026, with funds distributed by December 31, 2026. Projects must be completed / funds used by December 41, 2027. More information on both programs can be found below.

Environmental Justice (EJ) Grant
The LSPA EJ Grant assists not-for-profit environmental advocacy groups, community-based groups, environmental education organizations, and/or volunteer efforts for local projects that benefit the environment in Massachusetts communities with EJ populations. Projects should be community-driven and help provide a better understanding of local environmental impacts and strategies for addressing those issues—through direct programming, future planning, career, and/or education efforts.

Grants may be awarded up to $5,000 per award based on scope of work and available funding.

WES LSP Practice Grant
The  WES LSP Practice Grant honors the exemplary leadership, dedication, and service of Wesley E. Stimpson, PE, LSP to the LSP profession and LSPA. This grant advances the professional practice of LSPs by supporting projects that generate practical, shareable resources for the LSPA membership and broader community involved in hazardous waste site cleanup under the MCP. Projects should help the practice of rendering LSP Opinions or the professionalism of LSPs; address a timely issue facing LSPs; and/or educate the public as to the contributions made by LSPs about emerging technical issues, regulatory interpretation or implementation, or best practices or lessons learned in site cleanup.

Grants may be awarded up to $7500 per award based on scope of work, level of effort, and available funding. This grant is for LSPA members only (at least one member of a project team must be a member). The LSPA encourages student-led projects that are sponsored by an LSPA member who commits to collaborating with the student.
