One of the most rewarding parts of serving the LSPA is seeing firsthand how our members contribute to improving communities across Massachusetts. Last month, the LSPA EJ Grant Review Committee reviewed 23 grant applications from organizations seeking support for projects that benefit both the environment and EJ populations throughout the Commonwealth.

The applications reflected the creativity, dedication, and passion of community organizations working to address environmental challenges through education, stewardship, community engagement, career development, habitat restoration, climate resilience, and many other locally driven initiatives. The breadth of ideas reminded us that meaningful environmental progress often starts at the community level.

The LSPA launched the EJ Grant Program in 2023 as part of its 30^th anniversary celebration and has since awarded $40,000 in grants to nonprofits conducting initiatives that benefit the environment and EJ populations across the Commonwealth. We are thrilled to continue this program to provide resources that help community groups turn great ideas into meaningful action and can't wait to announce this year's grant recipients later this month.

A heartfelt thank you to the EJ Grant Review Committee members, Crista Trapp, Charles Young, Michael Penzo, and Mariellen Morris who dedicated their time and thoughtful consideration to evaluating this year's applications. Doing good work is important. Celebrating the people doing it is important, too.
