Presentation Description:

An LSPA Legislative Committee Co-Chair will begin the presentation with a brief overview of PFAS-related bills currently pending before the Massachusetts legislature and the work of the PFAS Interagency Task Force as it relates to LSPs. The majority of the presentation is organized around the 2021 updated Toxics Use Reduction Act (TURA) regulations which added, among other things, a Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances Not Otherwise Listed (PFAS NOL) category to the Toxic or Hazardous Substance List.

Kari Sasportas, Outreach and Chemical Policy Analyst for the Massachusetts Office of Technical Assistance (OTA), will present a program that includes a description of:

  • OTA’s overall mission;
  • Changes to TURA regulations involving PFAS;
  • OTA’s work with industry to address PFAS challenges; and
  • OTA’s web-mapping and other data documenting PFAS sources.

This information, on PFAS sources, industry management of PFAS, and evolving regulations pertinent to PFAS in the supply chain, will provide useful information and tools for LSPs.
