Presentation:

Conducting public involvement is an MCP requirement; conducting public involvement at an MCP Public Involvement Plan (PIP) site requires specific outreach and community involvement; conducting public involvement during the Covid pandemic presents a whole new level of challenge. This webinar brings together three environmental and public health professionals, working for both public and private sector clients at a few different PIP sites, to discuss their MCP public involvement experiences over the past six months.

Speaker presentations will address the following:

  • MCP PIP requirements and challenges posed by the Covid 19 State of Emergency;
  • Planning for PIP activities (public meeting notices, public meetings, public comment periods, information repositories, communication with local officials and residents) and using guidance from pertinent entries in MassDEP’s “MCP Q&A: COVID-19 Edition”;
  • Coordination and communication with petitioners and other involved parties;
  • The experience of participating in and facilitating virtual public meetings (internet access, translation services, handling Q &A, etc.); and
  • Opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned.
There will time for questions at the end of the presentation.
