Keeping a site logbook and field logbook is a big part of your work as a waste site cleanup professional; these provide important records of your observations, measurements, and events in the field. Writing memos, MCP documents, and other reports for your colleagues, clients, MassDEP, and other regulators is another key part of your work. These documents are the basis of the formal record of work for your clients and are a source of valuable information. What You Write Matters. Your words can be used in your client’s favor…or not, should you face a subpoena or if your site should be involved in litigation.

We invite you to learn more about What You Write Matters from two seasoned environmental professionals:

  • Michelle O’Brien, Esq. and Partner, Pierce Atwood LLP
  • Larry Feldman, Ph.D, and Senior Consultant, GZA GeoEnvironmental

The presentation will cover:

  • Why what you write matters,
  • Specific terminology dos and don’ts,
  • Examples and implications of problematic language,
  • How the words in your documents can be used by attorneys, and
  • Subpoenas, depositions, and litigation – oh my.

After the presentation there will be ample time for informal Questions & Answers.
