Course Description: This course is designed to introduce LSPs and other practitioners to the concept of contaminant bioavailability, how to measure it, and how to manipulate it with in-situ remedial technology. Part I of the course will focus on how to use site-specific bioavailability measurements for developing more accurate risk-based clean-up standards for hazardous waste sites being managed under the MCP. Part II of the course will describe and provide examples of in-situ remedial technologies that either destroy the chemicals in place or reduce their exposure (and risk) by reducing contaminant bioavailability.
