Course Description:

This course will provide an overall view of PFAS regulations and applicable in-situ and ex-situ remediation technologies, with a focus on Massachusetts or New England research, pilot studies, and case studies where appropriate. Four general sections are included in the course:

US EPA recommended health advisory levels, and how future US EPA regulations may in turn impact state regulations. Implications of lower standards on cleanup levels.
The PFAS chemical characteristics including the chain length and function group which greatly affect treatment efficiency and technology selection.
The commercially available and innovative technologies for in-situ PFAS remediation, along with the suitable site conditions for these technologies.
The commercially available and innovative technologies for ex-situ PFAS remediation, along with the suitable site conditions for these technologies.
