The LSPA advocates on behalf of the waste site cleanup profession with MassDEP, MassDEP BWSC, and EPA on regulations, guidance, and implementation affecting contaminated site cleanup and the practice of LSPs and other environmental professionals. 

News:

  • MassDEP leadership, Millie Garcia-Serrano, Assistant Commissioner, MassDEP BWSC, and Hank Webster, Acting Deputy Director of Policy and Planning, MassDEP will prese at the LSPA 2026 September Membership Meeting on September 17, 2026. Learn more. 
  • The MassDEP BWSC Advisory Committee for August has been pushed to September 24, 2026, at 9 AM. Learn more. 
  • MassDEP BWSC Office Hours will take place on October 15, 2026, at 9 AM. Learn more. 

Open Comment Period for Guidance/Regulation: The following documents are open for public comment: 

Risk Characterization Guidance, Chapters 11, 12 and 13: The newest installment of the Risk Characterization Guidance chapters has been posted (Chapter 11: Method 3 Risk Characterization; Chapter 12: Imminent Hazard Evaluations; and Chapter 13: Risk of Harm to Safety and Public Welfare). Comments were due to LSPA by September 1, 2026.
