Legislative Committee
If so, then you need to be a member of the Legislative Committee! The LSPA’s Legislative Committee is charged with monitoring and keeping LSPA leadership informed of legislation that affects and impacts our members and our profession. The committee, along with the LSPA Board and with support from our lobbyists, advocates on behalf of the LSPA and its members, including working to develop legislation, testifying in person and in writing, meeting with and advising legislators, and communicating on topics of interest. In addition, the committee will endeavor to inform our membership using a variety of means (e.g. social media, blog posts, etc.) concerning key legislative initiatives. In this way, members may choose to participate in LSPA advocacy and/or engage on an individual basis with their respective State legislators. The LSPA's Legislative Committee holds a one-hour monthly meetings via Zoom on the last Friday of each month; LSPA lobbyists typically attend these meetings. The committee also has "impromptu" meetings as needed during the course of the legislative session depending on priorities of action items. Contact the Committee Chair for additional information. Come help us make a difference!
