This is a new course. This course has been approved for 4.0 hours of continuing education credits for LSP Technical (#1887), CT LEP (CTLEP-613W) and NY PE/PG (#202512214). To ensure you receive continuing education credit for your attendance in this webinar, please read the LSPA's guidelines here.

Course Description:

Over the past 50+ years, injection of biostimulation amendments including oxygen release compounds, carbon substrates, sulfate compounds, nutrients, and sorption media has evolved into a viable, cost‐effective technology for stimulating bacteria for biodegradation of a variety of constituents, including petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, nitrate, perchlorate, energetic compounds, acid mine drainage, and chromium. Using engineering and hydrogeology concepts, the bioremediation technology is easily customized to meet site‐specific design criteria.

This course will provide attendees with an understanding of basic microbiology principles, sampling techniques and analysis to better assess site microbiology for incorporation into robust conceptual site models. We will also teach approaches to biostimulate/bioaugment an identified treatment zone. Various bioremediation application techniques will be described with advantages and disadvantages highlighted. The course will also provide practical suggestions on how to design a project and deliver bioremediation amendments to the subsurface.
