This course has been approved by the LSP Board of Registration for 1.0 hour of Technical/Non-DEP continuing education credits (Course #1693A). LSPs who attended the live webinar presentation (offered in May 2020 as course #1693) will be unable to use this online course for credit.

Course Description:

The course will discuss 1,4-dioxane as a contaminant of emerging concern that is increasingly detected in groundwater, surface water, and drinking water. 1,4-dioxane is primarily associated with chlorinated solvent sites where it is used as a stabilizer primarily for trichloroethane; however, there are many other uses of it resulting in impacts outside of chlorinated solvent spill sites. The presentation will outline the properties of 1,4-dioxane as they impact remediation. Case studies will be used to illustrate both ex-situ and in-situ remedial options to treat 1,4-dioxane. Remedial options to be discussed include reliable, proven technologies such as oxidation and sorption, but also evolving technologies such as thermally enhanced removal, bioremediation, and phytoremediation.

Registration Process:
Once you complete your registration form for the course, you will receive two emails from the LSPA:

  1. Your registration confirmation which also acts as a paid receipt.
  2. An email containing your log-in information and link to directly access the online course. Once this email is sent, you will have 30 days to complete the course. Access to the course and the quiz will automatically expire in 30 days. There will be no extensions or exceptions.
