Presentation Description:
The LSPA February Member meeting will present a summary of the practical takeaways and lessons learned from the Loss Prevention Committee’s review of MassDEP’s FY 2024 Notices of Audit Findings (NOAFs) from FY2024 on the topics of

  • Downgradient Property Status,
  • Nature & Extent,
  • Risk Characterization, and
  • Vapor Intrusion.

The LSPA reviews these NOAFs annually to provide insight into and better understand what has caused a disposal site to be out of compliance and what actions MassDEP has determined need to be taken to return to compliance. Understanding common mistakes helps LSPs proactively develop more thorough and defensible assessment, remediation, and documentation activities and remain in compliance with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan.

The presentation will provide an overview of the FY2024 NOAF reviews conducted by the committee, highlighting frequencies and trends. Each presenter will include a summary of the NOAFs they reviewed and the key topic-related issues identified. An agenda is provided here.
